Joshua Birungi
Managing Director & Lead Consultant
Nuclear Engineer | Radiation Protection Specialist | IAEA Nuclear Security Expert
Joshua Birungi is a nuclear engineer with over 12 years of expertise in radiation protection, nuclear safety, and security. He holds a Master of Science in Nuclear and Quantum Engineering with specialization in International Nuclear and Radiation Safety from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in addition to a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Makerere University.
Regulatory Leadership & Impact
Joshua spent nearly a decade at Uganda's Atomic Energy Council, where he held leadership roles across Inspections, Enforcement, Licensing, Nuclear Security, Emergency Preparedness, and Non-Ionizing Radiation regulation. He was instrumental in developing the nuclear safety regulations, guides, and standards that govern Uganda's radiation protection landscape today.
International Recognition
As an IAEA-recognized subject matter expert, he has delivered specialized training programs in over 10 countries across Africa and Europe, sharing his expertise with regulators and nuclear professionals internationally.
